Returning Players

Not all players joining Lórien are new. Sometimes former members of the Lórien culture seek to return to the culture. Experience is valuable, and we welcome readmission into Lórien. With the return of a former player comes a standard list of questions regarding character set up that varies from a new players set up. The check list below provides the guidelines needed to reestablish a formerly played character. Exemptions to the list below are unlikely, but may occur if settlement of a former character is considered beneficial to the culture and the players within the culture.

Initial Approval

For those wishing to bring back a previously established character in Lórien, a few steps need to be followed. In most cases, a returning character means many "extras" not immediately available to new players, and so we ask a little more from those who are asking for a little more from us. The first step is to submit a +mail to LOLA-BB stating the intent to reestablish the former character; i.e. Name, when the char was played, and an overview of what you are asking for (title, training, languages, etc).

The second step is to maintain "Regular" status, according to +cultures, in Lórien for no less than one month prior to a formal consideration of the return. During this one month period, the recommendation is that returning players set up a new character and play it until the approval is received. The approval process does take time as IC and OOC matters need to be discussed and coordinated in order to reinsert the character into the culture.

The third step is to complete the requirements listed in the +ehelp Former files (history, title, training, etc). Remember: you are asking for special consideration over new players who may have been here for awhile. We have come up with a system that excludes nobody, and all returning players will be expected to comply if they wish to bring back their character. No exceptions.

The above applies to formerly played PC's, and does not apply to the return of formerly temped characters. Formerly temped characters are considered in the same line as establishing a new character. No consideration for title or rank will be considered. The Lórien admin staff reserves the right to refuse a player character, and no appeals will be permitted.

Former History

Each character has a rich and unique history. When a player wishes to return a former character into play, they must return that character with the exact history as it had when the character departed. In addition, there has to be some explanation for the time period during which the character was absent. If the character lived in another culture for any part of their life, as with new histories, the other culture must also approve of the history.

Characters who were killed or RPed the act of going west to sail can obviously not be returned. Some exception can be made for characters who left the culture to sail, but never actually RPed the event. In cases of a reversal on sailing, a firm justification and historical outline of what occurred to change the characters mind during the time of absence must be included in the history.

As with all histories in the culture, this must be approved and accepted by the LOLA Staff before continuing on to finalizing title and ranks.

Former Titles

Requests to be placed in a position of high rank, guild heads, house heads, etc, will most likely not be approved. As a general rule, a former player can and should expect to be placed in the middle of the ranking structure. This provides consideration for experience and does not interfere with current players efforts to gain IC rank and position. As with all things on the game, activity and RP excellence is recognized by promotions.

If a returning character wishes to seek a higher rank or placement within the culture, they must receive approval from the Lórien staff. The request is made to the LOLA who will in turn coordinate with the concerned persons associated with the former character. Be advised that a higher ranking title is a rare exception and will only be granted in cases where it is determined to be in the best interest of the culture and the players under the ranking requested.

No requests for a higher than beginning rank for formerly temped characters will be entertained. These characters held brief, unimportant roles in past RP, and their rank was not earned but rather temporarily approved for background purposes.

Former Stats and OOC Jobs

Former Stats

While past efforts put into earning former stats is both appreciated and acknowledged, there is no reasonable or reliable manner in which to fairly verify a players former stats. To prevent uneven application of stats for those who might have been able to document their levels with those who could not verify them, there will be no increase in stats at this time.

Players wishing to regain stats are encouraged to seek RP with a trainer, or work towards earning an +elite status.

Former OOC Jobs

The greatest benefit the culture receives with a returning player is experience. While that player may have once held an OOC postion such as a +Trainer, and Teacher, or a +Healer, these are positions earned through hard work in the current situation of the culture rather than through past efforts. If a returning player desires to regain these positions, the LOLA Staff encourages Role play and activity in an effort to earn the postion.
