Tinnulanthir

TITLE:
Nethril a Cennan a Tellenistril (Healer, potter and tracker) -- Broken Lass o Imladris -- Tinnufish extraordinaire

DESCRIPTION:
Before you is one of the First Born, features carved by a master's hand from soft grain wood with light, fluid strokes. The pallet from which she is painted consists of autumn hues stroked by fine brushes onto a wintry pale canvas.

Her long mahogany hair cascades down her back, pooling briefly in the center yet always seeming in motion. Atop Auriell's crown, tiny braids are twisted into a halo of tresses which hold the locks in strict alignment. Elegance is present in every inch of her being except the pair of piercing dark eyes which allow a hawkish air to accompany the inborn grace.

A dress of deep burgundy hugs her shoulders, leaving the tops bare. It weaves with fitted style to her waist before leaping toward the ground to create layers of flowing wine. Gold is the accent color, present in embroidery about the dipping long sleeves and surrounding her waist in a pointed belt of woven leaves. Soft slippers conceal her feet and occasionally peek from underneath her skirts. Lastly, one will notice a glittering ring of tiny golden leaves that curls about her throat with precise sophistication.

PERSONA:

Auriell often carries an air of warmth about her as her lips are quick to bloom into a smile for they spend much of their time in such a state. While social and friendly, this elleth is known as well to have a stubborn streak and sharp tongue if the need suits her. In moments the calm peace and kindness can dissolve into a cold storm, betrayed moments before by subtle changes in the sharpness of her eyes. Like the autumn the weather of her mood shifts on whim, always a hint of cold separation hidden under the layers of bright color. Always is there a detached peculiarity about the healer for though she is quick to make friends, the elleth is always careful not to allow them to gain close access to her. Her reasons are her own and a mystery still to all.

HISTORY:

Aerdae and Elarien met, married, and lived in wonderful peace and happiness in Ost-In-edhil. Their first child born was Elistion, a bright ellon with a heart for the woods and innate skill in the world of tracking. So much was the young edhel dedicated to the art that he was mentored and taught by the Noldo, Alindil. However, the joy of the pair did not stop there for they begot a second child, a little girl whose potential was sadly never realized. For when she was but 52 the family was caught in the destruction of the elven haven. In the fight for Eregion, the family was separated, mother and daughter from father and son. All that was known of the fate of the Elarien was that Aerdae saw her slain by an yrk while fighting to escape. Unable to find his daughter yet convinced she was also dead, he and Elistion fled with those who could escape.

Aerdae and Elistion left the area with all haste, bitterly mourning the loss of Elarien and her daughter. Aerdae eventually led his son into the land of Amon Thranduil where the king kindly gave them haven to live. This new home marked the beginning of a second chapter in their lives, though shadowed by the pain of loss. The father and son made a pact not to speak of the events again, remembering both mother and sister in their mind's eye. So it was that Elistion's early adulthood was spent in the Green Wood, continuing to hone his tracking skills which indeed were already famous. It came about that the void left in him by the loss of his mother and sister was lessened when he fell in love with Aewluin, one of the healers in the King's halls. As their love grew so the pain in Elistion's heart receded and soon the pair was betrothed. On the day of their wedding Aerdae, a skilled jewel smith, presented Aewluin with a beautiful silver necklace twisted and formed of a triad of leaves about a perfect diamond teardrop. From that day forward, his daughter-in-law was never seen without the gift about her neck for it was precious to her heart.

Years past and the pair grew deeper in love as the time molded into the Third Age of Middle Earth. It was then, in the TA 48 that the pair had their first and only child, Auriell. Never since the painful loss of his mother had Elistion been happier. Their daughter shared her father's passion for the woods from an early age and often the family would venture far from the safety of Amon Thranduil into the darkening forest to play games and school the elleth in the way of the woods. On one such adventure in TA 102 they were caught by a hoard of yrks. Though outnumbered, the edhel were eventually able to drive the evil beasts away; however, not without toll on their own. Again, the family of Aerdae was stricken with grief, for Aewluin lay slain by the dark monsters. And once more, driven by the desire to raise his daughter, Elistion swore not to speak of his dead wife or the incidents surrounding the night of her death. For the second time in his life the ellon was sent into despair, only remaining in the world to raise Auriell with the aid of his grief-stricken father.

As for herself, Auriell suppressed all memories of her mother and threw herself instead into the arts of forestry and healing. In her mind, she wished to be as both her parents had once been. Though her mother's death haunted the budding healer, she led a happy life for many centuries. Soon she held both a position as a fine healer and a skilled tracker in the halls of Thranduil. Alas, her father and grandfather grew too heavy of heart and eventually could no longer bear to live in Middle Earth. So, together, they took their leave West, leaving Auriell alone and without kin. On the day of their parting, Elistion gave his daughter his wife's necklace, a family heirloom to ever remind her of the love of her parents. Yet, the young elleth could rarely force herself to wear that which belonged to her fallen mother and instead kept the necklace safely stored by her bed. Ever steadfast, she continued her studies until the pain of memories and desire for a new beginning caused her to flee Amon Thranduil in TA 2614. Distraught, the healer soon found herself a student in the Healing Halls of the great Lord Elrond. Here, the tracker soon learned about the care of the Second Born and took great pride in her work, fixing what the terrible darkness had undone, as she worked her way up through the levels of knowledge.

History has a way of moving in patterns, and so, Auriell began to build herself a new life in Imladris as a healer and forester. Walking in the footsteps of her parents and yet keeping her memories and past to herself, she has been able to achieve some level of happiness in the Last Homely House.
