Sulathron

TITLE:
Hirvaethor a Galthor, Tirn en Cirith Forn en Andrath, Arphadon Nos Los'loriel (Master Warrior and Gardener, Warden of the High Pass, Retainer of House Los'loriel) - The Head Newbie

DESCRIPTION:
Old weathered tree. Of course, this elf does not resemble a tree any more than he does a stone, yet this elf before you has the appearance of age beyond his youthful visage. His fair skin is unbleamished and remains smooth and full of color. Fair cheek bones and a thin nose hold up a stern countenance above his sharply pointed chin. But it is beneath his dark hair, which parts smoothly upon his brow, that reveals the sorrow of experience reflected in steel-grey eyes.

A fairly wrought cloak of pale grey falls beneath the locks of his hair, blending the dark midnight which ends at his shoulders with the twilight of grey which extends all the way down his back to his boots. A well worn, and comfortably fitted, tunic of brown is worn loosely about his body. Several pockets upon the breast and sides show an eye toward utility and function over style. The theme of brown continues upon his legs with work-pants of leather, a few darkly stained holes sewn together with skill and care. Of all the things he wears, the boots appear to be the oldest, darker than the rest of his attire and fitted snugly around his ankles and feet.

PERSONA:
Warrior. Guardsman. Archer. Those are what first come to mind when one things of Sulathron. A long service in the Tirith of Imladris and a dedication to his Lord Glorfindel define him. Rising up to the position of Warden of the High Pass, he is often out of the valley, but those times he is in, he spends in the garden, tending plants he grows. He is friendly and will discuss many subjects, but often has a somber tone and view of the world.

HISTORY:
To understand the history of Sulathron is to first hear of the Fall of Gondolin and watch the harried flight of the refugees of that fair city. To watch the lieutenents of Glorfindel lead on as their lord fell in sacrifice so that they may live. To see the despair as a proud and united people scattered to the winds and found hope and comfort only after great toil. Then to see the rise of hope as the Great Enemy was forever thrown down, only to have hope wither by the master of deception's rise. Much is said, also, of the great lords of battle who fought and died before the gates of Mordor and the sacrifices that were given in blood and life by those who ultimately threw down Sauron and destroyed his black tower. But it is, perhaps, a greater burden to have survived such plight. To have lived through the greatest works of Elven-kind and seen them crumble before you. To flee from the hidden city and know your lord had fallen behind you. To stand unflinching with others as your friends, both old and new, fell before the onslaught of evil. To bear all the burden of sorrow and despair, and return to your home in far-off land and weep.

It is not very surprising to see, then, Sulathron born very near the start of the third age. His parents hoping for joy and receiving such. A blessing which distracted, if not healed, the pain and hurt in their soul. Sulathron grew up quickly, his parents enjoying even the tears and sadness of disappointment. Even as a young elfling, Sulathron disliked attention and focus on him. Instead of performance and joking play, he much preferred hiding and seeking and other games of skills. His love of the outdoors blossomed young and continued throughout his life. But it was the martial world that he followed most swiftly. Coming of age with a father who demanded excellence with martial skill, if he was to do it at all, burdenened the young elf with much trial and error. Mostly error in the beginning. But soon with more skill and then, after many years, with expertise.

Most of the years of his life were unremarkable and not worth mentioning in heavy detail, but a great event did occur many years ago. When the lord Glorfindel returned. House Los'loriel was restored and Sulathron's parents, along with himself, found themselves again with house as well as home. Under the guidence of Glorfindel, Sulathron found himself pressed much harder than his father ever had. Not through cruelty or any malice, but through necessity. That necessity drives Sulathron in all his work. The battle of Fornost, also, was a distinguishing time for Sulathron, who fought with bravery and was a lietenent of the archers. His aptitude for understanding the flow of battle showed through many times during the fighting.

More recently, Sulathron is Warden of the high pass, guarding Imladris from the east and lending aid to all those who are friend or ally. Though the time he spends in the wild is long he still finds time to work in the garden in the valley, where he tends vegetables and flowers.
