Selithil
TITLE:
Tugwiol a Galthor (Forager and Gardener) a Arphedil Nos Teleralda (Member of House Teleralda) - Soccer_Mom in charge of Beer and Smokes
DESCRIPTION:
Black as the darkest night is the hair of this elleth, shining with glints of a bluish cast when struck by light from without. The dark tresses cascade over slender shoulders to fall lightly about her waist, and several thin braids are interspersed in the midnight waves. Wound among the locks are a series of small flowers, almost whimsical in their decoration: tucked into a braid here, behind a delicately pointed ear there. The moonlight trapped in her hair seems mirrored in eyes as pale as the sky's shimmering nocturnal orb. Delicate are her features, eyes evenly spaced from a straight nose, skin smooth and softly coloured, with the faintest smudge of natural coral on high cheeks and full lips.
The clothing she chooses is for function rather than fashion, although it is as finely crafted as the most delicate frock ever made. A tunic of deepest emerald clings lightly to slight curves, the sleeves long and tapered down to slender wrists. Encircling her hips is a tanned leather belt, held securely by a clasp fashioned expertly in the shape of the oak tree of Nos Teleralda. From this belt often can be found tools of the gardening trade, close to hand when the need for them arises. Shapely legs are hugged by crimson leggings, worn for the practicality of one who spends much time bent down to the ground or on her knees among the plants. The anomaly that truly shows the spark of humor that resides in this maiden comes in the form of the calf-high boots she wears. Crafted from the same tanned leather as her belt, these have been carefully stained a pale pink hue and, while well cared for, show a bit of the constant wear they receive in the scuffs that lightly mar their surface.
PERSONA:
Good humored, merry, light of spirit... these are words that may come to the minds of others when thinking of the young elleth, Selithil. Happy in her beloved Imladris, she takes eagerly to song and dance, and smiles come easily to her lips. Not as obvious, but still known by some, is a more serious side, for she is a maiden brimming with determination and purpose.
She knows a close family life, both through her parents and siblings and through the extended family that all at Imladris enjoy. Selithil can often be found in the company that gathers in The Hall of Fire, but she does seem most happy and content when tending the grounds of the Valley. Above all, her satisfaction comes when called upon to hone her foraging skills.
HISTORY:
Third Age, 1594: Amariell is heavy with child, her husband Thalacam no less concerned with this second child than he was with their first, a male child they named Corfaroth. The night had already grown dark and Ithil shone high in the sky, the second full moon of the month and living up to it's name of 'blue moon' in the halo of shimmering blue light outlining it against the darkness. As the cry of the newborn babe rose into the air, the light of Ithil stole in to touch the tiny elleth. Thus, say her parents, was her hair colored, so black that the light of the blue moon shines in it's depths, and thus came her name Selithil, Daughter of the Moon.
Her childhood in The Last Homely House was filled with love and good humor. The birth of another daughter, Tawariell, completed their family, and the three siblings spent much time together exploring the gardens, fields and woods of the Valley. It was in this time that Selithil nurtured her abiding love for the fresh scent of turned soil and the magical beauty of life springing from carefully tended plots. As time passed the growing maiden would draw her siblings into all manner of mischief carried out with the best intentions.
Talked about by some to this very day was her grand idea to sneak off into the wood and start her own little garden there, enlisting Corfaroth and Tawariell into service to aid her in 'liberating' seedlings from the care of the elder gardeners. This was discovered, in time, by the benevolent Glasiel. Instead of the talk that perhaps she would have deserved, the understanding elleth took an interest in the young apprentice, taking Selithil under her wing. So did Selithil come to be underfoot in the gardens, absorbing all the knowledge she could until she almost knew more about the gardens than many of more advanced years than herself.
In due time, Corfaroth was taught in the ways of the hunters and trackers, and Tawariell developed her own love of the art of healing. The three still share a close bond, made even stronger by the ways that their talents lend each to the other. There is little they cannot accomplish when they set to the task as a team.
For her part, Selithil's love of nature spouted her own innate talent, in the ways of foraging. This is truly a time when her senses work in harmony to her keen mind, and her determination shines brightly. She has not been put to a task yet that has proven beyond her ability, and she yeans always for the next opportunity to be of service to the lands and people she loves so dearly.
