Rochwen

TITLE:
Rochdur a Nethril, Arphedil nos Teleralda (Groom and Healer, Retainer of House Teleralda)

DESCRIPTION:
Standing with a strong stance, she observes the world through spirited blue eyes, while flecks of gold in them hint at stubbornness. Hair of a dark auburn falls straight, coming to rest just past her slender shoulders and framing a soft, heart-shaped face. Strands on one side are always tucked behind a single pointed ear, while lips are played in a welcoming half-smile. She stands slightly shorter than most her brethren, her skin pale. Her clothing is simple, yet elegant; pale gray breeches cover her legs, while long fingers peek out from under the long sleeves of a light turquoise tunic. Designs of silver stars decorates the hem, while knee-high boots of light brown adorn her feet. A belt of that same hue rests against her hips.

PERSONA:

At times she will seem shy and quiet, and others Rochwen will carry a bright song or join in any conversation. She never forgets loyalty to her friends, and is always willing to lend a needed ear.
Though she is somewhat clumsy, she doesn't let that keep her from the Stables, where she is most often found. If not there, she is most likely riding the forest paths on one her pale mare, Fainrandis.
Rochwen is known to daydream sometimes, but loves her home in the valley nonetheless. She looks forward to each day, even the simple ones that include caring for her equine charges, learning achery from her sister Ilfwen, and enjoying the company of friends.

HISTORY:
Born in Imladris during the autumn season over eight-hundred years ago, Rochwen is the second daughter of Hargam of Rivendell, and Cristwen of Mirkwood. The young elleth had a happy childhood, learning from her parents and troubling her elder sister, Ilfwen, as only a younger sibling could. The tides soon shifted, and she no longer became the youngest with the arrival of another sister, Aelin. The fourth child, Ranwen, came soon after. Despite any foolish games in their youth, she was always protective over her sisters, and found herself becoming close friends with Ilfwen when they were older. As time passed, the large family seemed very much at home in the House Teleralda.

When the time came for her lessons to begin, Rochwen happily pursued singing as her mother and oldest sister had. She enjoyed it, and her mind seemed set on following the musical path for many years. Then, one star-filled night, she found herself unable to sleep. Though it was dark, she wrapped a cloak around herself and went walking alone. As her thoughts cleared, she eventually found herself at the doorway to the Imladris Stables. Several elegant and curious heads looked over their stall doors at her, and she went to great them without hesitation.
These midnightly visits continued, until they turned into daily ones as well. Her family was forever wondering where Rochwen disappeared for hours, until she finally approached her parents about giving up music lessons to become a groom. Hargam and her sisters just smiled, while her mother was a little reluctant to let the elleth pass into the trade of the Rochdyr. After some persuasion, Cristwen agreed. So music and song became an afterthought, and Rochwen quickly grew adept at handling the elvish steeds. Her love for horses eventually led to an interest in healing. After some prompting, she pursued that interest at readily as she had the last.
Then came the day Hargam took Ilfwen hunting, and her sister returned home carrying their father on her back. The days falling were full of sadness, but the family supported each other the best they could. During this time, she often wondered: if she had gone with them, could she have healed her father before he departed? The sorrow grew when Cristwen announced she was returning to Mirkwood. Rochwen said goodbye with a heavy heart, afterwards pushing away any 'what if' thoughts and taking solace in the company of her sisters and the horses. Years later, she abruptly decided she wanted to learn archery, and has been practicing during her free time since. Along with this, she began singing again, though only to whisper soft songs into the ears of the horses when her mind is wandering.
