Randinen
TITLE:
Arphedor Nos Olormaranwe (Herald of House Olormaranwe) - Hirdan a Rithron, Hirvaethor Cuniriath en Tirith Imladhrim (Master Woodworker and Woodcutter; Master of the Bowmen of the Imladris Guard) - Hir-Cunir en Canadath (Master Archer of the Four Realms) --- Local Bird Caller, Signpost o Imladris --- Imlad's closet Pyromaniac -- Lil Dutch Boy in Lipgloss -- Weekend Warrior -- Rivendell Forest - Central Midfielder and Coach
DESCRIPTION:
A tall and grave Quende, raven are his locks, akin the starless night, reaching beyond slender shoulders. Beneath frail dark brows, glitter eyes of a liquid hue - a grey reminiscent of silver. Age seems to have no hold on this figure. His expression is wrought within sharp, hawk-like features. Yet this keen and timeless visage is encompassed within a lesser darkness; his vivid glance belied by an undefined glimpse of sorrow. Slender lips betray an almost secretively serene smile. And prominent are his ears, leaving little doubt from which line he stems - one of the Firstborn, fairest of the races.
Draping the slim shoulders, hugging a lean frame, is a fitting tabard, blessed by a flavour of forest green, dark to the eye. Yet the fabric is light at the rim, as it is silver hemmed. Beneath is worn a blue shirt, as light as would be the cloudless sky. There is no plain mark priding upon his chest, save a small emblem which portraits a crest; upon a sable background licking flames of a yellow sunburst rise anxiously to a single argent star.
A light grey mantle - a veil of dusk to morn - falls in full, a fine weave of intricate patterns merging with the hem. They speak of tale and legend, truly a fine display. The hood attached remains untouched for now. His wrists are kept by brown bracers, plain of make if scratched by some sort of use. His breeches match the tabard, blessed with similar shades of green; they end in travel-stained leather boots.
PERSONA:
Randinen is both an attentive speaker and listener. As Commander of the Bowmen he instructs and trains the Tirith both in the field and in the valley. Also as a Hirdan he holds and shares knowledge when it comes to wood working. Nonetheless his interest in other crafts and disciplines is profound. Oft he lingers in the library, reading tales of old, or can be found in the Hall of Song, listening to whomever performs.
But not so after patrols or long absences from the valley. Then he is less around the House, more often found in the surrounding woods and moors. Aside these moments he can be an eloquent speaker if he must as Herald to Nos Olormaranwe.
Lately Randinen's mood changed. He is less talkative, attention bent to his own thoughts. His feet carry him to and fro without his mind present. He has been spotted in the library reading up on Lindon, Eregion and Doriath - of which two were his former home. Additionally he spends less time in the Artisan's Hall and more on the training field, eluding company.
HISTORY:
The Second Age:
The realm of Doriath is no more. Fleeing the remains, Galdoruin and his wife (Annamirwen) and son (Orostaen) seek refuge with the High-King - Gil-Galad. The family settles in Lindon. Then in the year 34 (SA) a second son is born - Randinen. The child inherits the skilful hands of his father, yet the keen and gentle mind of his mother. Growing from child to man the young Randinen unlocks an interest in wood-crafting. At an early age he follows a different path than his father, Galdoruin being particularly skilled in the fields of stone and metal crafting.
During his stay in Lindon, Randinen acquaints himself with two ellith. Firstly Eryndae - keeper of his brother's heart - proves adequate competition in the acquisition of Orostaen's undivided attention. The situation improves a little when Randinen is introduced to Glasiel. Now he himself experiences the joys of love, and a romantic friendship blooms between the pair.
999 (SA): Driven forth by his ambition, Randinen travels to Eregion in the company of a Noldo Lady, Lindir. During this first stay, Randinen befriends - through Celebrimbor and Lindir - the (at that time) Gonnhir, Gondramind. Years of hard labour and intense practice follow, until eventually Randinen earns the title of Hirdan for his work and progress in the field of wood-crafting. Due to her aid and company, the bond with Lindir strengthens. Gaining more and more understanding in the ways of her House, Randinen consequently pledges allegiance to Olormaranwe.
Yet now his eyes turn homewards once more. Longing for Lindon ca. 1100 (SA), Randinen ventures back and forth several times to visit his family. During these journeys he finds a trustworthy companion in a Shipwright, Gilathan. And many of their adventures remain still untold, nigh forgotten.
1697 (SA): Sauron sheds his mask, his deceit revealed when Eregion is sacked by his malign will. Randinen is among the survivors. A host led by Elrond comes to their aid. Then and there Randinen is reunited shortly with Orostaen. Sadly this will prove to be the last time the two brothers speak to another. After the oncoming battles, Orostaen disappears; his fate remains unknown.
Heart and feet heavy with this ill news, Randinen returns to Lindon to confront his parents. Because of his journey he unintentionally eludes Glasiel, who is also part of Elrond's host. The uncertainty concerning his brother sows a grudge in Randinen's mind and spirit. New to the atrocities of war the Hirdan turns to an altogether different passion. He puts aside his tools in favour of a bow.
Blind to his gradually changing ways, Randinen nourishes his grudge through relentless training. He bides his time, albeit soon an opportunity arises. His newly found deadly precision will serve him well as Randinen marches with his Lord Gil-Galad to be part of the Dagor Dagorlad.
3441 (SA), once more Randinen survives a great armed conflict. Sadly his father and Lord share not his fortune. His only comfort takes shape in form of a second name bestowed upon him in honour of his skill and prowess in battle; Curanmir - a name he has not used ever since.
Thus ends the Second Age for the Hirdan, and he and his mother join Elrond in the Haven known as Imladris.

NOTE:
Bear with me. I have this strong belief in other people ;), meaning sometimes I am somewhat presumptuous and keep silent expecting certain things, where perhaps it's more wise to speak up and make sure if what I expect is actually going to happen (makes sense doesn't it?). Kinda like Bilbo's party speech, he knowing what he says, to him making perfect sense, but everyone else is: HUH?! Like that and then different. And in heart and mind (and clearly in pronunciation!) I am still ESL.
Other then that I only wish to mention the sheer magnificence of R.A.T. Expect to hear from us in the future. When your connection goes weird on you, do not think power failure, but think... *nods* exactly, R.A.T.
For the moment we are keeping a low profile, due to the prolonged OOC absence of two of this organisation's founders. Our rule: Squeaky Squeak! Don't hate it, love it. And don't page us, we'll page you (a.t.m. R.A.T. is aspiring to list Randinen as their newest member).
PERSONAL:
Lore:
"Fighting for my survival, they must fight for their own. No matter how righteous our cause may be. Whatever our suffering was in the past, these truths never assure victory. Force against force, that is war. Only brute strength controls victory and with victory survival. This is the true essence of our battle against . I have seen my relatives slashed to death, witnessed their slaughter; so I fight...
That's my philosophy...fight..." - T-man Blade, N. Carter
"Archeaology is the science of 'rubbish'." - L. Binford.
"The infinite and infamous loop-theory:
The more questions asked, the more you learn. The more you learn, the more you know. The more you know, the less questions you ask. The less question you ask, the less you learn. The less you learn, the less you know. The less you know, the more questions you must ask!" - P. v.d. Velde (one of my professors when teaching us a class about the ways of scientific argumentation, all freely translated from Dutch)
"I am cool. I like to swim in a pool. What's up, Foo'?" - Gilredil, the misunderstood poet o Imladris. Nonetheless I am a great fan of his work. Everyone should buy his bundle of poems, only $9.99, check your local bookstores NOW!
PLAN:
1. First and foremost (I borrowed this plan from others!) to have fun, simply put:
JOY!
2. Develop characters through Rp.
3. Do this in different cultures.
4. Explore more possibilities on a TO DO-list.
5. Type out a TO DO-list.

14.(*) Be sat upon by Arwen. (Recommendable experience)
15.( ) Find out what sound baby Amadillos make.

minute later)
PROJECT:
Actually I still want to create a website once *coughs*incompetent*coughs*HTML*coughs*illiterate*coughs*. Never seem to have time though... As for other Projects, none really, save for a relentless intention to help build a greater activity in the culture. (update: why yes that relentless intention has waned over time ;))
Other then that, I wish to graduate in 2004, end of October, right after my b'day (update: dream on twiddlethumbs). And hopefully earn a decent living (update: Yeah riiight) in the fields of my interest, Iron and Bronze Age, along with a degree in Classical Archeology, though my main focus is on Prehistory.
Then, when finally earning money, instead of spending it, I would perhaps like to travel for a year, see more places. Even perhaps visit some people ;). So fear that door bell.
Addendum: Visiting the US for a month between February and March. I am absolutely thrilled and looking forward to it. Staying with MUSH people too. They are really too kind.
