DESCRIPTION:
Straight and serene are the first impressions that greet you when you look at Linnet. Her expression is calm and open, her fine dark grey eyes merry and kind, like those of a good listener. Although slender as most elves are, she could not be described as thin; indeed, she is the nearest an elf could get to being sturdy. Of average height, her nut brown shining hair falls straight down her back, shimmering in the light, and she possesses particular grace of movement.
A soft, clean light blue tunic is tucked into some darker blue trousers, secured by a finely decorated leather belt inset with a twinkling, dark blue jewel upon the buckle. She wears an amulet around her neck with a dark blue jewel matching that in her belt. Her trousers are tucked into leather ankle boots, and a plain, dark cloak covers her slender but strong form.
PERSONA:
Linnet is generally a happy, contented elleth who delights in the company of her fellow edhil. She is equally happy to wander in the gardens or along the river, and many a time as a child caused consternation to her parents as she would often lose track of time while out exploring, and her sister would be sent to search for her.
Although outwardly she appears calm and placid, she can become as lively and passionate as any over some subject dear to her heart, and is quick to defend those she loves; friendships are slow to ripen but hard to break. Her heart is soft and she would find it hard not to comfort another in distress, friend or stranger. There are times when she is sad and reticent, her thoughts turning to the sister she misses so much, and on these occasions she is likely to be found alone near the river, quietly watching the water slip by
HISTORY:
Linnet was born in the year TA 2866, the second of two children, her elder sister Duinelwen being some 550 years older; both she and her sister being born in Imladris. Her early family life was happy and uneventful, her parents holding one another in high esteem and proud of their children. An extended trip to Lorien to visit an uncle - brother to her father - was viewed by Linnet and her sister as a happy adventure, though both were overjoyed to return home to the Valley.
From an early age Linnet showed a fondness for plants and flowers, delighting in their beauty and fragrance, and would often be found in the garden with her hands in the soil and stains on her knees, humming to herself; or roaming the meadows or riverbanks, oblivious of time and with joy in her heart. Many was the time her mother sent Duinelwen to search for the missing Linnet, who had not noticed the hours had slipped away. Linnet was usually placid and dreamy as a young elleth, although she became more lively in the company of her sister, and on occasions they would ride, galloping together and racing the wind, peels of laughter and excitement following them. As Linnet began to grow, she began to develop an interest in healing, the use of the plants and herbs she loved so well complimenting this interest.
The time came for Duinelwen to marry, and as this was to an edhel from a different realm, she moved away from her family. Although Linnet was happy for her sister, she missed her most dreadfully, almost grieving in her absence.
After some months spent moping, Linnet decided she must pick herself up and seek new interests; her cousins Dintauriel (on her mother's side) and Galalim (on her father's) are both nearby. Occasionally Linnet suffers bouts of loneliness, and yearns for her sister; but her new friends, and especially Istawen, have become close to her heart and bring joy back into her face.
