Idhrendae
TITLE:
Idherveld a Bathron (Philosopher and Cook); Herunnur Nos Forodren (Steward of House Forodren)
DESCRIPTION:
Work in progress.
PERSONA:
Of humor and friendship, Idhrendae brings wisdom to matters of his involvment. Deep thought often marks his countenance, and involvement in the Istfariath occupies much of his time. The kitchens claim still more, where the cook ever experiments with new recipes and designs upon his meals.
A stalwart friend to those of his acquaintance, the Sinda's deepest loyalties lie with those of his House, nos Forodren. There he serves as Steward to the House's needs, a responsibility passed to him at his parent's departure West, many years ago.
Though many claim his friendship, his greatest love, perhaps, lies with one elleth. Istawen is his betrothed, and their wedding is rumored in the near future, an occasion of much happiness for each involved.
HISTORY:
Idhrendae was born under a clear, starry sky in the year TA 1453, to Garathosta and Aurelin. He came from a noble line, his grandparents, Daimieglaur and Nibenris, having been edhil of some import in Gondolin, serving Nos Forodren faithfully during its infancy. Of them were born Garathosta and Falmgwing, establishing a loving, closely knit family. Yet this happiness was not to be, as during the Fall of the City, only Daimieglaur and Garathosta were able to escape, watching as others were brutally slain about them. Yet, they counted themselves among the lucky, for they had each other, and the bonds that tied them were only strengthened during the slaughter.
Thus, Daimieglaur and Garathosta began a life of hiding, of persecution at the hands of those who would destroy them. They wandered throughout the wilderness, not knowing how many of their people had survived, carrying the guilt and shame of their people for the ruin of their haven. Yet, they eventually came upon Forlindon and the remnants of their people. It was here that Nos Forodren was truly established, as those formerly of Gondolin united. Others joined as well, those who admired the philosophy, the beliefs of the House.
Yet disaster would again strike Daimieglaur and Garathosta. For Eregion would be overrun by the foul beasts of Sauron. They were sent to the forefront of the retreat, wielding their bows, to clear the path for those would come later. During the heat of battle, however, Daimieglaur was struck down. As he lay dying in Garathosta's arms, Garathosta's life took on a new purpose: to tirelessly face Sauron and his agents.
Thus, Garathosta travelled with Elrond, to Imladris, hoping to establish a station of freedom, for freedom in Middle Earth. It was here that he met Aurelin, his future bride, although it took both many years to realize the attraction. Yet, they came to love each other dearly, and in time, they bore a child, Idhrendae. Yet, again, the family would be broken.
Garathosta had become an important figure in Imladris, as well as Herunnur of Nos Forodren, in recognition of his tireless efforts for both the House and the Valley. It was because of this that he was sent with a special envoy to Lorien, to discuss the rising darkness in Middle Earth. But he was ambushed, and watched again as everyone around him was slain. He was left for dead, and only through the powers of Elrond was his death stayed, for a time. Yet, he required greater treatment than was available in Middle Earth, and so made the decision to travel West. Aurelin could not bear the idea of leaving him, so she travelled with him to the Undying Lands, leaving Idhrendae alone. Yet, he had already spent incredible time working with the House, and was given the position of Herunnur upon his father's absence.
While he was a gifted bowman, this was not to be his path, for he abhorred the sight of blood, unless absolutely necessary. He preferred to leave the work of slaughter to other edhil, after many years of hearing the loss of his family at the hands of war. This matter caused him some shame, and he would sometimes need time to think, to meditate on his role within Imladris, and in the larger world. It was during one of these episodes that he came to spend long hours in his room, idling away the hours. He came to consider the great mysteries of life, pondering the essence of the world. It was thus that he decided to join the Istfariath as an Idherveld, desiring to enlighten and enrich the knowledge of the Sinda.
He also began to cook often, picking up his old pastime, acquired from spending hours in the kitchens with his mother, a Cook of Imladris, in his youth. It soon turned into a full time affair, and he became a Bathron as well. He often enjoyed the looks of amazement and astonishment that appeared when he created a truly spectacular dish. Idhrendae's two professions complemented each other nicely, as he did his best thinking and contemplation whilst at the kitchen.
