Dulinien

TITLE:
Thandis en Tirith Imladhrim, Glirieth, Mirdan a Idherveld - Arphedil Nos Narthanaer (shieldmaiden of the Imladris Guard, poet, jewel-smith and philospher - retainer of House Narthanaer)

DESCRIPTION:
The personification of the seasons dwells upon this tall elleth standing regally at 6'5"; the reds, golds, blues, silvers and greens intermingled to create the harmony of Yavanna, Vana and Nienna. Her skin is a pale colour of starlight, shimmering like the eerie illumination of pearls. Hidden strength is seen within her lithe body alike to that of a she-wolf, lean muscles sinuously toned. Abundant ringlets of flame cascade down to her knees, interwoven with reflections of sanguine incandescence and laced-in gold ribbons. A delicately angular face is encompassed by the unruly tresses, accentuated with an aquiline nose and a gentle mouth bearing full lips the hue of pale pink. Long-lashed eyes of fierce amber that at times echo the rising of Anar and at others the gilded glint of fire peer out with obscure wisdom, set below smoothly arched eyebrows.

Her attire bears to the semblance of natural grace: flowing cloths composed with diaphanous silk and velvet adorn the elleth's form in varying shades of blue, silver, and green that portray the mists lingering o'er a forest ere the ascent of the sun. A rippling darkly virescent tunic is worn close against her body, reaching to the lower thighs; along the hem are wispy designs of luminescent leaves and curling vines. The neckline and sleeves are trimmed with silken silver lace, clasped with miniature buttons; the sleeves of a sheer iridescence flare out dramatically just above the elleth's knees, nimble fingers hidden beneath folds of cloth. The buttons of the tunic are left undone, revealing a light shirt of silvery-white bearing the faint radiance of blue stitching. Loose breeches the same hue of the tunic is donned, bunching at the knees; a pair of dark leather boots is worn upon dainty feet, the length of it going to the elleth's knees. As the gaze moves toward the neck, a silver glass drop can be seen hanging from a mane of petals in the same tint, producing a soft rattle with movement. Upon the index finger of the right hand, the golden sheen of an aureate ring fair to one's eyes is seen, prismatic diamonds sparkling as eloquent elvish script decorates the sides.

PERSONA:
Dulinien's name does indeed imply her to be a daughter of the nightingale, being naturally quiet and speaking when she deemed it right, earning her the name Ranequilde, in the High Elven tongue for peaceful silence. Her voice is soft and scarcely dispiriting with a lyrical quality that seems to almost contradict her ageless appearance with its calm, soothing tone. Though a concept of tranquility is seen, a fierce temper can often be invoked upon those seldom expecting it. Usually she is found amongst the forests of Imladris, finding needed solace; at other times the elleth can be looked for in the Library, for she is very fond of books. Ranequilde cares for those whom she has given her trust to and does it so wholly that it cannot diminish, relentlessly giving devotion to what she does. Her resolution has a firm foundation, preventing the occurrence of altering or swaying away, no matter the cause or consequence.

HISTORY:
It was the seventh day of Ethuil of the year TA 2049 when the days were warmer, and Isil shone bright during the rising of dusky twilight. At that hour, when the silver illumination of night began to descend upon Imladris, and the songs of the nightingales prospered, a maid child was bequeathed onto an ellon and an elleth of Nos Narthanaer, belonging to the conjoined clan Iaurfaeren...when the hope of conceiving another child seemed to fade. Iaurfaeren, or Ancient Spirits, refers to the joined families when the couple had wed, composing of kin alone.

Sindarin and Nandorin blood ran deep through the veins of the newly born child, a semblance of her forefathers and foremothers reawakened in her spirit. At birth she was named in the original tongue of the Moriquendi as Lohterilde, blossom of brilliance. But neither parent was of Imladris, both being born in Lindon not too long after the fall of Beleriand. Lailin was a mistress of song, and a lutist, and it was her wont to wander often, singing as she went, among the wooded places, and the streams that hemmed Harlindon. Mearamegil was no bard, but rather a Rochon of the darkening days of the Second Age. Four fair children sprang from that joyful marriage, all different as the seasons; Erynsil, the eldest son, dutifully followed his father's footsteps. Galavathar, the younger son, was a Thandir and a Maendir. Tirloth, the elder daughter, became a Silversmith yet possessing the skills of both a Forester and a Thandis.

In her younger years, the elleth traveled once to Lothlorien to visit her mother's kin, and found herself enamoured of the Wood; ever since then her heart yearned to see the golden eaves during the long wait in Imladris. As time passed, Lohterilde grew quickly into an agile and competent elfling retaining her mischief, her mind ingenious to learning new arts. The majority of her interest lay in the assimilation of written knowledge, the Tirith, and the lore of the Artisans...spending the days in the forests where she found solace to compose songs and thoughts of wisdom, and the nights studying the lore of the Mirdain beside her Grandfather Liruince. She was still at a young age when she achieved enough proficiency with both sword and song, having been taught well by her brother Galavathar; Lailin later named Lohterilde Dulinien, daughter of the nightingale, denoted for her beautiful voice alike to her father's mother bearing the same name, who had been a pupil of Melian.

Seasons waxed and waned fleetingly, and it was no surprise that the elleth had grown into an significant beauty, though few ellyn had been caught by unawares, and sought for her hand; but her heart she gave to none, save for one she knew as Laugumilion, meaning son of warm affection. But with love often comes sorrow. Many years advanced forward to the reckoning of TA 2975, and Dulinien's darkest hour came to be during a Tirith patrol with Erynsil and Galavathar...for they were waylaid, and in that time Galavathar was slain.

A span of sixty years passed, leaving the elleth to irreplaceable grief, before she was awoken to joy when Laugumilion, now named Eruhin, had proclaimed his love for her. Waiting no longer, they were bound to each other in the period of Rhiw, TA 3033. Around the 23rd day of Echuir of the year TA 3034, a son was conceived, and twelve months went by until Lohterilde bore Faervel, an event that brought much delight and rekindled hope for her. A few months before, she had taken Silidriel as her sworn-sister, a generous act that fulfilled the other elleth's desire for relatives to call her own.
