TITLE:
Celdir, Elisthir a Olvaristdir (Courier, Astronomer and Herbmaster); Arphadon Nos Narthanaer (Retainer of Nos Narthanaer)
DESCRIPTION:
A tall, slender male elf with the willowy litheness of a young sapling. He probably is not as young as he might appear to some. His dark brown hair falls in silken strands nearly to his waist. It is pulled away from his face and held back by a silver clasp. His face is narrow and his facial features are classic elven, and his eyes are blue-grey. A pair of leaf shaped ears peek from beneath his fall of hair.
At the moment, he is wearing a long coat made of a finely woven fabric in a medium silvery green colour. It is embellished with silver threads in an intricate leaf pattern. Underneath is a darker green tunic, also long. An oval brooch is fixed to the front of the tunic. The collar and cuffs of a white linen shirt can be glimpsed at his neck and wrists. He also wears light silvery green leggings and high soft leather boots in the same shade.
PERSONA:
He has many interests similar to those of his ancestors and immediate family. He is interested in history, herb lore, languages, astronomy and research into the many aspects of living things and inanimate objects of all sorts. He loves to read just about anything, including journals, maps, and literature. His research is driven by his intense curiousity and his somewhat cyclical interests. He may seem somewhat distracted at times, as if his mind is in another place or time.
At various times during his life, he has been active in several different guilds. The activity in each seems to depend upon which of his interests has currently attracted his attention. Most recently, he has begun to serve as a courier, which has allowed him to keep current on yet another of his interests - current events, and has also allowed him to meet all kinds of people.
He is very sociable, but is a bit uncertain about dwarves - something due to talk among the older members of his family.
HISTORY:
Calenbrethil was born in Inladris approximately 1100 years ago, give or take a decade. His ancestors were Sindarin elves, mostly from the house of Narthanaer. They escaped the fall of Doriath, traveling with others of their kind and helping to carry out important books, plants, and other useful and beautiful things to safety. Several kept journals of their travels and adventures that have proved useful sources of information to subsequent generations of the family and of other elves. They eventually settled in Imladris. Some stayed close to Elrond's house and others moved out into the nearby countryside. Most were either involved in the libraries and archives of Imladris that are located inside Elrond's house, while others busied themselves in Healing and Herbal lore. Once in a very great while, a member of the family showed an interest in and aptitude for military service and became guards.
Calenbrethil's immediate family follows the established pattern. His father is a Seeker and Librarian and is very much involved in the archives in Elrond's house. His mother is a Healer and expert in the use of herbs for both medical and culinary purposes. His older sister is following in her mother's footsteps in that she is also a Healer and Herbalist. His younger brother has shown exceptional ability in archery in his post in the guards. Calenbrethil himself has worked at various tasks and engaged in many areas of study. Most recently he has been most actively serving as an Herbmaster and Astronomer. He has also busied himself in the role of Courier, when needed.
