Aladriel

TITLE:
Celdis a Nathril a Ethir en Tirith Imladhrim a Arphedil Nos Narthanaer (courier, weaver, scout of the Guard, retainer of Narthanaer)

DESCRIPTION:
Many a years have passed since the birth of this Sinda Imladhrim, ancient in beauty, and effortless in grace, or at least it may appear so. Centuries of history have occured between the onset of this Quendi's life, and the current time, but her features still resemble that of a young elf, just after reaching adulthood.

Aladriel's hair flows down past her shoulders, reaching nigh her waistline. These black strands are carefully managed, and appear silky smooth. The skin of her face is soft, and the color of fresh cream. Pale she might be, but her face is near flawless, no scars or blemishes dot her ageless face. Black, ice-cold eyes are revealed below thin eyebrows and below long, curving black lashes. Her nose rests between her eyes, small and petite, and below it are her plump, yet soft pink lips.

Her frame is small, giving her the appearance of frailty. She stands about 5'10, and weighs somewhere near 115 pounds. Her thin frame looks almost wiry, but there are a slight few muscles there as well. Today she wears a long blue gown, made of various linens. The blue is laced with white, and along the hem of the garment are sewn designs, in the shape of ocean waves. The gown fits her comfortably, and covers the majority of her body down to her knees, and also includes her arms down to her elbows. She wears no jewelry, nor adornments. Upon her feet are a pair of brown leather boots.

PERSONA:

A life of sitting quietly in the house in Rivendell wasn't destined for Aladriel. Though at first she was taught in the ways of a weaver, a seamstress, soon she found that it was a bit boring, as she seemed to be quite adventurous and outgoing. She can be found now in the halls of the House studying as a courier, looking to meet any of the various races that sometimes make their presence known. Still even this only challenges her mind, and not her body, so as she came fully to age, she began training in the guard with the goal of being a scout.

HISTORY:

Aladriel was born in the year 101, of the present age. Her father and mother are relics out of an age long since past. Her father, Aendil, was a proud elf, and a member of the guard of Imladris. Her mother, Liriel, was a weapon smith and helped forge some of the legendary weapons of the elves. The dates in which her parents came to be in love were centuries before they bore her. Aendil and Liriel heard the news, and saw in the times the coming and the fall of Sauron. In fact, Aendil assisted in the Last Alliance of men and elves. Many of their kind were slain, but Aendil survived to return home and try to make a peaceful place with his wife.

Upon returning to Imladris, Aendil and Liriel had a firstborn, within a few years. His name was Celidan. Unlike his parents, he grew up in a time of localized peace, and he began in the study of arts, and crafts. Studying to be a bard, and an artist. Yet, now in the year 101, their last child is born, their daughter Aladriel.

This child grew close to her kindred. Being of the house Narthanaer, she was an intelligent and bright Sinda. Her childhood was a bit sheltered, but she began learning the cultural graces, the languages of her people, and certain skills that all elves needed to know. Years of her childhood turned into decades, and decades turned into centuries.

As Aladriel, grew into adulthood, she began learning skills that were of need, her first being that of a weaver. The skills of the Elves before her were taught to her. Over years, she began to fashion garments of elegance, and of beauty. She became a seamstress of great talent after a few hundred years, for she had no rush in her time. She moved on from just plain garments to all types of clothing. Jeweled and gemmed clothing, cloaks, head coverings, dresses, pants, socks, anything that could be of use and wear. But even stretching herself this far, did not keep her occupied for long.

In Imladris there were whispers of a coming evil, of a great power to the north, in the lands of Angmar. Fear had spread in some of the elves hearts, and training became diligent, especially of those within the House Narthanaer. Aladriel and her brother Celidan too began training with weapons. They both were trained with Elven blades, and with their longbows. Celidan, being strong and sturdy, took up ranks within the guard as a warrior, while his sister took up ranks as a member of the scouts, as she was smaller and agile. For a few hundred years, the two, as well as many other of their kind trained, and became better with their abilities. Their swordsmanship increased, their skill with the bow and arrow; Celidan challenged his strength and stamina, while his sister challenged her stealth and speed. Being elves, their eyesight was unmatched, but they held tests against each other trying to pick out a faint sound, a glimmer of light, or the scent of a lone berry some distances away.

Still, it looked like there might have been no need for all this preparation, until the Witch-king of Angmar made his move, attacking the Dunedain, but also attacking the elves in Imladris. They were under seige for a great time, but the elves persisted, though unknown to most they were protected by Elronds Elven ring as well. Elves were lost, but luckily still, all of her core family survived. As the years passed, Elrond and his folk kept the valley safe, but not much around them was stable. Nations were wiped out, and the Witch-king set up home in Fornost.

Life in the valley was trying at best. Surrounded by enemy territory, and separated from the other kin in Lindon and the east, the Imladhrim did their best to survive. Still, they trained and prepared. While Elrond and his kin held audiences in the house, making plans with great leaders in the valley, Aladriel and her brother trained, and further prepared for their battles ahead, hoping one day for peace. Celidan began writing songs of their trials, making an oral history of the things he had seen, while his sister tried to make herself useful as a courier, this way she could keep up with as much of the gossip and political state of the valley.

After another time, Elrond called his people to war against Angmar, joining with the Gondorians in their fight against the Witch-king and his evil peoples. Setting forth, they did fight, and were victorious against the menace of the north.

In the years that came next, Aladriel continued her studies. She grew even better at her weaving and seaming, grew stronger with the bow, and more secretive in her scouting, and worked diligently as a courier. Of her goals she is not quite sure. At one time, she had planned on marrying a good elven male, and starting a family, but two millennia and more have now passed since she came into the world, Arda is far different than those times years ago. Some of her kind, including her parents, have passed over the sea, after a long debate with the children. The roads that lead to Lindon and Cirdan the Shipwright are troublesome at best, with trolls and other monsters in between.

Still, her parents went on across the sea, leaving her and her brother in the valley, adults able to take care of themselves. What lies in the future, only time will tell.
