It is very important that you have a firm background in Tolkien to be able to RP elves as he conceives them, for they are very different than elves as conceived in most popular literature, nor are they like the elves of games like D&D. The only true solution is to read The Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion, but the information included here will provide enough to go on if you have not yet read all of Tolkien, and a quick refresher for those who have.

Remember that while you are playing a character of your own creation, you are a visitor in J.R.R. Tolkien's world, and it is our responsibility to be faithful subcreators within that world.
