+IMNEWS ELVISH Elvish words in rp In Imladris, speaking in rp is always assumed to be actually in Sindarin, the one language all elves know, unless specifially otherwise agreed upon OOCly for some special reason. (All Silvan elves also know Bethteur, all Sindar also know Quenya.) For example, if non-elves are present, speaking in rp may be agreed to be in Common (Westron). The +speak commands, to label one's spoken words in any language you know (see help +languages and +speak), are used for special circumstances or a particular effect in rp. Note, however, that for historical reasons explained in the Silmarillion of Tolkien, Quenya is "never" spoken publicly in Imladris (or elsewhere in Middle Earth) nor privately except with those of similar preference, for fear of giving offense. Some prayers and songs are an exception to this. To aid in rp, the following is a list of Sindarin words that are sometimes used in rp to add an 'elven' flavor.
