Tathar Appledore-Wild Child

Description:
Dark brown hair, so dark as to appear black on first sight, curls around a small vivacious face and spills over Tathar's shoulders. Sometimes it is corralled at the nape of her neck by a bit of string or ribbon, on rare occasions, it is actually bundled up at the back of her head and held by two long wooden pins. Most often, it simply hangs free. Long black lashes ring brown eyes that may sparkle or snap depending on her mood, but are rarely calm. Her face is lightly tanned, as though she has spent much time outdoors, and dimples peep out merrily when she smiles. No more than medium height, she is thin, almost wiry; although something in the way she moves shows that perhaps she is stronger than she looks.

Her dress is very plain and a little loose. Made of sturdy fabric, it is faded from age and use. The original color has long been forgotten; and it is a tribute to the quality of the material that it has stayed in one piece this long. Now an indeterminate brownish grey, it falls to midcalf. The sleeves end halfway between her wrist and elbow, leaving her hands free of trailing cloth. A deep rich red, the color of her cloak is more impressive than the make; for though it is sturdy enough and the wool of good quality, it is nothing out of the ordinary.

History:
Young and rather willful, (she is just turned 15) Tathar grew up on the outskirts of Bree. With her twin brother, Leopold (also called Toby), she spent much of her childhood escaping from school, chores or anything else that sounded distasteful at the time. Mostly what sounded distasteful to the girl was whatever kept her indoors for very long. As a result, she is rather lacking in what might be considered womanly skills: her sewing is abysmal, her cooking little better. However, she is quite good at hide&seek. The children's parents', cheerful and indulgent, did little to check them as they grew, pretty much allowing them to run wild. Now that they stand on the brink of adulthood, Tathar's father has taken Leopold under his wing, teaching him woodworking; her mother has dragged the girl into the house and begun an attempt to din some minimal household skills into her. How successful she will be is a matter for betting among some folks; Tathar flees her mother's tutelage whenever she can.
